ITALIAN INTENSIVE SUPERNOVA PROGRAM
HOME

This project aims to coordinate the observational programmes in the field of SN research carried out with the different, mid-size telescopes belonging to INAF and other Italian Institutes.

The Project pools scientists from Padova, Napoli, Trieste and Teramo, which are very active in the observation and interpretation of SNe, and includes most, if not all, of the national expertise on the field. The main aim of the project is to tackle the open issues in the field of SN research by mean of a coordinated, observational effort.

Our experience tells us that continuity in the observations and high S/N cannot be guaranteed with International facilities alone. Whereas the continuity is necessary because SNe evolve with time, it is necessary to have good observations at phases 0-600 days in ored to get matirial which can be modelled and, in turn, to understand the Physics of SNe. This is why we propose to coordinate the observational effort among the telescopes of Asiago, Campo Imperatore, Teramo, Toppo di Castelgrande, Loiano and TNG.
