XMM-Newton discovery of a strong relativistic Fe K emission line in 4U 1344-60

Piconcelli et al.

We present the analysis of the X-ray and optical spectra of the low Galactic latitude source 4U 1344-60. The most relevant spectral feature in the XMM spectrum is the broad and skewed Fe K line which suggests the existence of an accretion disk extending down to a few gravitational radii. It represents one of the clearest examples of a relativistic line observed by XMM so far.On the basis of the optical data, we propose to classify 4U 1344-60 as an intermediate type Seyfert at z=0.012
