The origin of the strong soft excess and puzzling iron line complex in Mkn 841

Recent XMM observations confirm the presence of a strong soft excess and complex iron line profile in Mkn 841 and reveal their extreme spectral/temporal behaviors.We present a detailed analysis showing that the 0.5-10 keV emission can be entirely explained by the combination of a relativistically blurred photoionized reflection, producing simultaneously the soft excess and the broad iron line, and a neutral,unblurred, one producing the narrow line.Possible physical interpretations are discussed.
