High-energy observations of gamma-ray loud AGN

We present the results of a study on gamma-ray loud AGN, based on INTEGRAL and XMM-Newton archival data, and complemented with recent observational campaigns performed with the above mentioned satellites during high states periods of these sources. Particular attention is dedicated to the interaction of the central engine with the circumnuclear environment (disk, broad line regions) to evaluate the impact of the external Compton contribution to the jet gamma-ray emission.
