Extended LOFAR and Particle Spectrum in Extragalactic Radio Sources

G. Brunetti, M. Bondi, D. Dallacasa, K-H. Mack, G. Setti

Hot spots in powerful radio galaxies and quasars are compact regions at the head of the relativistic jets, where electrons are re-accelerated through strong shocks. We present broad band (radio - X) observations of hot spots, including Spitzer (IRAC and MIPS) data, and compare the results with expectations from particle acceleration models. Possible constraints coming from future high-resolution low frequency radio observations (with the long-baseline LOFAR) will be also discussed.
